Packers  -7 and 56 – 1 pm ET

Not surprisingly this is surrounding American Football, which takes pride of place amongst the turkey and cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving. The big story around the NFL this season is the Green Bay Packers. The Wisconsin franchise are still unbeaten on the season, running off ten wins, and with just six matches remaining on the season, all the hype is over whether or not they can have the perfect season. The Green Bay Packers head to Detroit to face the Lions on Thanksgiving, the team directly beneath them in their division, the NFC North. The Lions are three games back from the Packers (having won 7 and lost 3 for the season) so this is not going to be an easy Thanksgiving for the Packers, and the Lions will be hungry to take a massive bite out of the Packers quest for a perfect season.

Cowboys -7 and 44 – 4 pm ET

In the NFC East, we see leaders the Dallas Cowboys face off against Dolphins in a Thanksgiving fest as well. This is in Texas and the Cowboys have the chance to rack up a good win here to keep themselves ahead of divisional rivals the New York Giants who hold the same season record as the Cowboys. The Miami Dolphins are struggling along in with AFC East, having won just three games all season, so we should see the Cowboys blow them out of the water here.

Ravens -3 and 38.5 – 8 20 pm ET

Baltimore (7-3) improved to 5-0 at home last week with a 31-24 win over Cincinnati.

The Ravens defense did allow nearly 500 yards as it played with 12-time Pro Bowler Ray Lewis who sat with a toe injury. He had started 57 games in a row. Lewis is very iffy for this one but is expected to test the injury a few hours before game-time before a decision is made.

San Francisco (9-1) is the only team in the NFL not to suffer an against the spread loss this season and already is 4-0 playing in the Eastern time zone, which is remarkable for a West Coast team. The Niners have won eight in a row since their lone loss, an overtime home affair to Dallas in Week 2.

The 49ers are a big threat to the Green Bay Packers in their hunt for the NFC Conference and Superbowl ambitions. The 49ers are on a 9-1 match record for the season and will look for a good win on Thanksgiving and hope that the Lions become the first team to breach the Packers. While no-one can match the power of the Packers attack, the 49ers have one of the best defenses in the NFL, far better than Green Bay, and they will bank on that as they hit Baltimore, who are top of the AFC North with a 7-3 season record. This is likely to be a pretty tight game, with plenty at stake for both of the teams.

Texas Longhorns at Texas A&M Aggies

Thursday, Nov. 24, 8 p.m. EST

Aggies -8

On Thanksgiving Day the Texas A&M Aggies say goodbye to the Big 12, and they also say goodbye to the annual tradition of playing Texas. It seems fitting given the sadness of the ending of a bitter rivalry that dates back to 1909 that nature is conspiring against tradition — droughts in Texas have caused a burn ban that means that the Aggies can’t enjoy their giant bonfire on Tuesday night.

A big concern for the Texas offense in recent games has been the absence of top receiver Jaxon Shipley. He has missed the last three games with a knee injury, and he’s likely to be out for this game as well. It’s not just his playmaking that the Aggies miss so much. The Longhorns lack depth and top-level talent among their receivers right now, so with Shipley out of the picture the team has become far too easy to defend. This would be a far different game if Shipley were ready to go.

The Aggies are facing offensive issues of their own. The top two running backs for the team are likely out of action. Christine Michael blew out his ACL and is definitely out. Cyrus Gray suffered a stress fracture in his shoulder against Kansas and is likely out as well. That’s nearly 2000 rushing yards — and well more than five yards per carry — that is missing from action.

Texas has allowed just 54.5 rushing yards per game in their last four games, so these injuries could be a significant factor in this game.

ATP World Tour Finals

Thursday, 24 November, 2011 09:00 am ET

Big match up in Group B of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on Thursday, where Rafael Nadal v Jo Wilfried Tsonga betting will settle who follows Roger Federer through to the semi finals. The red hot Federer has beaten both of them already, quite comfortably in all respects, and now it left for the two of them to thrash it out for a place in the semi’s. Both Tsonga and Nadal have already beaten Mardy Fish, so all that is left in Group B is to see who wins this big clash. Neither are going to beat Federer to top of the group, so it is a straight forward scenario of whoever loses in Nadal v Tsonga betting goes home.

This is obviously the perfect time to go and look at the head to head record between the two. Spaniard Nadal is 6-2 up over the Frenchman in the head to head but they are at one match a piece this year. Tsonga beat Nadal at the Queens Club ahead of Wimbledon this year, before Nadal took his revenge on clay later in the year. It may come as surprise, but Tsonga will start this match as favourite. He came into the Barclays ATP World Tour finals on the back of some good form, winning in Vienna before losing out to Roger Federer in the final of the Paris 1000 Masters. Nadal was brushed aside easily by Roger Federer in his previous match (losing 6-3 6-0 in 60 minutes), and that was after needing a final set tie break to edge his way past Mardy Fish in his opener.

There look to be genuine concerns over his fitness and he is not playing at 100% and therefore Tsonga will sense that he is there for the taking. Tsonga is a very good punching player, hitting hard with quick one-twos off his serve to unsettle opponents. So Rafael Nadal v Jo Wilfried Tsonga is the highly of

Thursday’s play, with the outcome of the Roger Federer v Mardy Fish match totally irrelevant.

The road is still wide open for Roger Federer to stroll to this title.
